We walked through the gate in the Peace Wall, passing from the Catholic side to the Protestant side, on Woodman Avenue. We walked down Shankill Road until we got to Shankill Methodist Church.
We knew many people in the Church from prior year visits, and greeted most of the congregation as they entered the Church. With Debbie leading, we sang "We are Called". After Church we again met with many of the Congregation.
We took cabs to the Felons Club on the Falls Road, where we were given a tour of the Club by Big Paul.
The Felon's Club is famous in Belfast. Nelson Mandella visited there and left a signed document:
We were fortunate to have gotten the tour of the Club and are very thankful!
Lunch was delicious and there was lots of it:
Dara, our cemetery tour guide met us at the Felon's Club and took us on a tour of the City Cemetery. A very interesting tour which including the grave of the first casualty of the building of the Titanic, the grave of one of the founders of the Orangemen, and graves of other important and famous people.
Dara had a picture of one of the Leaders of the Rebellion, Jim Larkin, a great uncle of Pat's:
We also saw the grave of Samuel Davidson, the inventor of air conditioning which he invented initially to dry tea faster!:
After a short rest at the Rock Pub, where we watched part of an Irish Football game on big screen TVs, we went back to Shankill Methodist Church.
We attended an evening Service at which many members of the Team talked about their Volunteer In Mission experiences. After the Service we had Tea and Biscuits, and talked with members of the Shankill community. And we met old friends from Springfield Road Methodist Church, like Elsie, who was one of the first people we met in Belfast back in 2007.
Some of the team walked back to Farset Hotel, stopping along the way at the Clonard memorial to the burning of Bombay Street.
